For God so loved the world.
What does that really mean to you when you hear it?
Is it just another Bible verse… something you heard growing up in Sunday school?
Something familiar… something easy to say… but never really stopped to think about?
Do we truly comprehend what it cost?
Do we understand the sacrifice that had to take place for that one line of Scripture to even exist?
Because that verse didn’t come cheap.
It wasn’t just written… it was paid for.
And not with silver or gold…
But with suffering most of us couldn’t endure for even a moment.
You may be wondering… what does this have to do with preparedness?
It has everything to do with preparedness.
Maybe not the kind the world talks about…
but preparedness for the life to come.
And to be honest—
that’s the only preparedness that truly matters.
What Did It Really Cost?

What did it actually cost for those words—“For God so loved the world”—to be written?
We talk about the cross…
We wear it…
We’ve seen it in movies…
But do we really understand what happened?
Jesus knew.
He knew before the nails.
Before the crowd.
Before the cross was even lifted.
In the garden, before any of it began, He was already feeling the weight of what was coming.
👉 Gospel of Luke 22:44
“His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.”
This wasn’t calm prayer.
This was agony.
Because He wasn’t just facing death…
He was about to carry the full weight of sin.
Not just mine.
Not just yours.
All of it.
Every lie.
Every addiction.
Every hidden thing no one else sees.
Placed on Him.
And He still chose to move forward.
He was betrayed by one of His own.
Denied by those closest to Him.
And when the moment came…
They all ran.
👉 Gospel of Matthew 26:56
“Then all the disciples deserted Him and fled.”
He stood alone.
Beaten.
Mocked.
Spit on.
A crown of thorns forced onto His head.
A Roman scourging so brutal that many didn’t even survive it.
👉 Book of Isaiah 52:14
“His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being…”
Let that sink in.
This wasn’t symbolic.
This wasn’t softened.
This was real.
And then came the cross.
Nails driven through His hands and feet.
Struggling for every breath.
Humiliated in front of the very people He came to save.
But the physical pain… as brutal as it was…
wasn’t the worst part.
Because in that moment—
He wasn’t just suffering.
He was taking your place.
And then something happened that we can’t fully comprehend.
👉 Gospel of Matthew 27:46
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Think about that for a second.
Jesus wasn’t just in physical pain.
In that moment…
He was alone.
Separated from the Father.
For the first time—ever.
The same Jesus who had always been in perfect unity with the Father…
now stood in our place, carrying our sin…
And experiencing the separation that sin causes.
That’s the part we don’t fully understand.
The physical suffering was brutal.
But this…
This was something deeper.
Because He wasn’t just dying.
He was taking on the full weight of sin…
And the separation from God that comes with it.
So we would never have to.
Why He Did It
Why would He do that?
Why would He willingly walk into that kind of suffering…
that kind of separation…
that kind of pain?
For God so loved the world.
👉 Gospel of John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”
We say that verse so easily.
But look at what it’s actually saying.
God didn’t just say He loved us.
He showed it.
By giving His Son.
Not for people who had it all together.
Not for people who earned it.
Not for people who deserved it.
For us.
👉 Letter to the Romans 5:8
“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Let that sink in.
He didn’t wait for you to clean your life up.
He didn’t wait for you to get it right.
He knew every failure.
Every mistake.
Every sin you would ever commit.
And He still chose the cross.
That’s not human love.
That’s something else entirely.
Because if we’re being honest…
We might die for someone we love.
But no one gives their life for people who reject them.
No one suffers like that for people who ignore them.
And yet…
He did.
He took what we deserved…
So we could receive what we never could earn.
Forgiveness.
Grace.
Eternal life.
And if you really think about it…
There was a moment in Scripture where something like this almost happened.
👉 Book of Genesis 22
Abraham was willing to offer his son.
His only son.
The one he loved.
And he was ready to go through with it…
But God stopped him.
Because it was never about Isaac.
It was about showing us something.
A picture.
A foreshadowing.
Because what Abraham was asked to do…
God actually did.
He didn’t stop it.
He didn’t intervene.
He gave His Son.
Willingly.
Completely.
For us.
Are You Truly Prepared?
You may be wondering… what does this have to do with preparedness?
It has everything to do with preparedness.
Maybe not the kind the world talks about…
but preparedness for the life to come.
And to be honest—
that’s the only preparedness that truly matters.
We prepare for everything in this world.
Food.
Water.
Shelter.
Security.
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
But what about your soul?
What about eternity?
👉 Letter to the Hebrews 9:27
“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”
That’s a reality no one escapes.
I don’t care if you never buy anything from this website.
Yes, we should be prepared for this world…
but we are only here for as long as God allows.
The real question is:
are you ready for what comes after?
Is there oil in your lamp?
Are you ready for the return of Jesus?
👉 Gospel of Matthew 25:1–13
My affiliate partnerships may help you prepare for worldly problems…
but there is something far more important on the horizon—
your eternal life.
We prepare for storms…
but ignore eternity.
We store up supplies…
but neglect our souls.
👉 Why Spiritual Prepping Matters More Than Stockpiling
Where are you going when you leave this world?
And are you absolutely sure?
You can be.
But the choice is yours.
I’m not writing this as someone who has it all figured out.
I’m writing this as a sinner saved by grace.
Someone who has chased the wrong things…
got distracted…
and had to be pulled back more than once.
And maybe that’s why this hits so hard.
Because no matter how much we build…
no matter how much we prepare…
none of it matters if we’re not ready for eternity.
👉 Gospel of John 14:6
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
There aren’t multiple paths.
There isn’t another way.
There is only Jesus.
And everything you’ve read here…
everything He went through…
was so you could have a way back to God.
Not someday.
Not when you “get your life together.”
Right now.
So I’ll leave you with this:
You can prepare for everything this world throws at you…
but if you’re not prepared to stand before God—
you’re not prepared at all.
The Empty Tomb Changes Everything

And here’s something else to think about…
There have been many leaders, teachers, and religious figures throughout history.
People follow them.
Study them.
Even build entire belief systems around them.
But at the end of the day…
they all have one thing in common.
They’re still in the grave.
Jesus isn’t.
👉 Gospel of Matthew 28:6
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
The tomb is empty.
Because He didn’t just die…
He rose again.
And that changes everything.
Because we’re not putting our hope in someone who lived and died.
We’re putting our hope in someone who:
- conquered death
- defeated sin
- and is alive
An Invitation to Salvation
If you’re reading this and something is stirring in your heart…
don’t ignore it.
You don’t need perfect words.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need to come to Him honestly.
If you’re not sure where you stand, you can pray something like this:
“Lord, I know I’m a sinner.
I know I’ve fallen short.
But I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again.
I ask You to forgive me, change me, and lead me.
I put my trust in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If you prayed that—or even if you’re just thinking about it—
I’d love to hear from you.
